Conveyors for Bottling

Throughout the summer months in the UK the demand for cold drinks, from soft drinks to ciders and beers can be high, particularly when there are may also be sporting events involved. It is a fact that the sales of cold beers and other drinks does rise for instance when it is the World Cup or even Wimbledon.

Mobility Engineering have worked with many beverage producers to improve and speed up their bottling facilities - all for the good of the thirsty British public, and we thought we would have a look back at some of our bottling designs for different producers.

The Accumulating Belt Conveyors

Accumulation tables are required when large quantities of empty bottles are being loaded onto a system.

The bottles can then be gathered and fed along the system to be filled, capped and labelled.

Many of our recent projects at Mobility Engineering have involved belt conveyors in various differing designs, some of which are entirely unique and bespoke for each particular client.

Our video playlist below shows many of our recent designs, including the "parcelator" or boom conveyor, the modular belt and slat merge conveyor, a flighted PU conveyor, a modular belt conveyor for packaging and a modular belt decline merge conveyor.

Modular Belt Conveyor With Decline and Merge

Recently we shared on our blog a conveyor system our team had designed and supplied to one of our longstanding customers. It was a modular belt conveyor system which included a decline and merge system for a large packing company.

We decided to share this again as, not only has it has been one of our most popular videos on our You Tube channel, but also because it shows some snippets of our design process, showing on how we start with a design, to how it is built and installed and subsequently how it works and integrates with the client's other systems when installed!

Belt Conveyors

Posted by Sarah Bardsley on Thursday, 28 March 2019 at 15:15:04

Pvc/Pu Belt Conveyors are generally used on assembly and packing lines or in clean areas such as the food and pharmaceutical industries. The traditional Pvc/Pu belt conveyor system is still widely used due to it being more cost effective than the more modern modular belting, and in instances such as horizontal packing, picking or assembly lines we would generally suggest using smooth PVC, or where the belt is in contact with food we would recommend food grade PU.

Modular plastic belting is now being used more frequently on belt conveyor systems because of it's durability and it's multi-functional properties. Modular belting is generally constructed from either polypropylene, polyethylene, or polyacetal. As it is a series of links, the belt can be constructed to suit the application. e.g. the links can be very narrow to allow small end drums for transferring products. Alternatively, the belt can be an opened top flush grid to allow air or water to be passed through the belt or the belt can have a radius flush grid for use on bends. The modular belt can also incorporate a grip top for inclines.

If an elevation is required we would recommend a grip face rubber belt, although if the angle of inclination exceeds approximately 24 degrees the belt would have to include flights. Many belts have a woven back which helps grip the end and return rollers, and in addition to this we also supply belts that have tracking strip profiles underneath which folds down over the steel skid base, therefore no tracking is required.

Here is a playlist of Mobility Engineering pvc/pu belt conveyors and modular plastic conveyors which have been installed at customers' premises:

Flighted PU Belt Conveyor

One of our latest projects has been to design and install a conveyor for the transport of chocolate food products. The conveyor we decided to use was a flighted belt conveyor, which allows the food products, after they have been coated in chcolate to travel up an elevation and around onto a packing line.

The conveyor is fully constructed from 304 Stainless Steel with a PU flighted belt which is to FDA standards, which was perfect for our client's requirements.

Installing Multiple Conveyors

Often when the Mobility Engineering team are asked to work with a client, it will involve designing and installing more than one kind of conveyor. This particular client required a number of conveyors to move products between different floors and areas.

After a full overhaul and redesign of their conveyor systems, the client was installed with:

  1. An interfloor belt conveyor with both lineshaft and gravity roller conveyors
  2. Lineshaft powered roller conveyors
  3. Modular belt and pvc belt conveyors (part of which were also installed with grip tops as they were used on a decline).

The video below shows the variety of different conveyors that can be combined together within a manufacturing space to support production line processes.

Our design team at Mobility Engineering enjoy working with longstanding clients and one our most recent projects for one of them was to design, install and supply a decline, moduar belt merge conveyor system.

Our video illustrates how we work together with our clients from our initiial meeting and discussions, to our technical team being involved in the actual design, and finally to our engineering and installation team. Have a look at our video, this is a great example of all of our specialists working together, alongside a happy customer.

Stainless Steel Modular Belt Conveyor With Goalposts

Posted by Sarah Bardsley on Monday, 19 November 2018 at 14:00:36

Filed under: Conveyors, PVC/PU, Business, Videos, Case Studies

At Mobility Engineering we are always looking at innovative and bespoke designs, which will suit an individual client's requirements.

One of our clients required a stainless steel modular belt conveyor which needed to have goalpost design lane splitters. This would enable the client to use filling heads located on either side of the conveyor, enabling them to fill the conveyor quickly and efficiently.

Stainless Modular Belt Conveyor

Posted by Sarah Bardsley on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 at 17:02:31

Filed under: Conveyors, Plastic, Steel, Business, Videos, Product Care, Technical

On of our most requested conveyors is the modular belt conveyor, because of it's practicallity, flexibility and cost effectiveness. A simple modular belt conveyor can be used in many varied environments. One we designed and installed recently is shown in our video below and this particular modular belt conveyor was designed for use where the area had to be cleaned and washed down, so was made from stainless steel with a removable belt for easy cleaning.

The conveyor also had an external drive and the modular belt had no tracking and no end tension. The conveyor was also designed in a split fashion so that machinery could be installed above the belt.
