Tips When Choosing a Gravity Conveyor
There are many variables to consider when choosing a gravity conveyor, including should you look at a skatewheel option if you are going to be conveying items with flat bottoms?
Choosing Skatewheels or Rollers?
However, a full roller conveyor may be better if your cartons could become imprinted with the skatewheels. Also if your items are not uniform on the bottom, such as bagged items, then you should always consider looking at a roller conveyor.
You should also consider how long your items will remain on the conveyor and if it is a relatively long period you should look again at increasing the number of skatewheels if you are choosing this option or ,again, using full rollers.
Load Capacity of the Conveyor
You also need to consider load capacity and this can be impacted by the distance between the supports on the gravity conveyor frame. For example, a steel frame which is supported around every one and a half metres can have three times the load capacity of a frame supported every three metres.
There are many things to consider, even with a relatively simple gravity roller or skatewheel conveyor, and the team at Mobility Engineering is here to help by analysing your requirements to help provide you with a tailored solution.
