Mobility Engineering design, develop, manufacture and install conveyor and material handling systems. One of our specialist areas is the powered conveyor belt, which can be used in many types of industries, ranging from heavy industry where the conveyor belt is used to transport products such as grain, car parts, coal or sand to food manufacturing where dainty cupcakes or sweets are transported along a production line.
All About Conveyor Belts
Conveyor Belts have been used since the 19th century! The original inventor was Thomas Robins who began inventing basic conveyor belts to help to carry coal, ores and other products. In 1913 Henry Ford introduced conveyor-belt assembly lines at the Ford Motor Company and this was the beginning of the modern type of chain conveyors used in the automotive industry now. Modular plastic belt conveyors were not introduced until around 1970 when an American company, Intralox, patented the first belt of this type.
Conveyor Belt Design at Mobility Engineering
Today Mobility Engineering is able to design and develop PVC/PU conveyor belts (either smooth or gripped conveyor belts) or modular plastic conveyor belts. Whatever is required from the conveyor belt, Mobility Engineering will be able to accomodate a belt which can run from 3 metres per minute up to a speedy 50 metres per minute (as a guide) and loads of up to 200 kg can be accomodated.
